I think dream casting should be a recurring feature here on the forums. If they were going to make a movie of the the popular TV series I Love Lucy, what kind of casting would you do. Would it be a loving spoof like the Brady Bunch Movie? A simple straight-forward comedy? Or something else?
Director - ? Writer - ? Andy - ? Opie - ? Aunt Bee - ? Barney Fife - ? Otis - ?

My familiarity with old sitcoms is mostly relegated to the few episodes I've seen on Nick at Nite as a child. I'm familiar with basic premises and character tropes but (generally speaking) I'm not familiar with specific characters. But I like the thread idea!
There are, of course, exceptions: I've enjoyed watching episodes of the Bob Newhart Show and have powered through a couple of seasons of the Marty Tyler Moore Show. I'm more than familiar with Lucy and Ricky and most of the Gilligan cast. But mostly my sitcom knowledge starts somewhere in the 90's.

Director - Ron Howard (a bit on the nose, but still, he or Robert Zemekis seem like they might be right for it.) Writer - Mitchel Hurwitz (I think his wit could suit this sweet homespun world without simply mocking or rehashing the original) Andy - Bryan Cranston (He's looks a far cry from Andy Griffith, but he strikes me as someone who could be both witty, but also act as the straight man.) Opie - Kodi Smit-McPhee Aunt Bee - Edie McClurg Barney Fife - This one's tough. The best I can think of is Jim Carrey. Anyone have any other ideas? Otis - Stephen Root
