Why in every comic book/sci fi movie are the military villainous scum? Avatar was so over the top beating us over the head with its point HERE'S THE BAD GUY FOLKS - I thought he would twirl his moustache.
Super 8 - same thing.
Will this cliche ever die?

Probably not. The main reason for this is largely because the idea of authority being abused by the people we trust with it is a theme that people are generally interested in. People don't like the idea of people with this kind of power abusing it for either their own ends or for reasons that conflict with their own values. Perhaps it might be considered lazy, but I certainly doubt the idea of the government, the military, teachers and people with power as the villain will disappear. I doubt that it is some conspiracy against the military.
