Prior to this episode, the only two Murnau films I had seen were Nosferatu and Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans. Thanks to Netflix Watch Instantly, I quickly caught up with Faust and The Last Laugh. How I had not seen these films before? They were both amazing. I had always thought of Metropolis as one of the most technically innovative silent films of the era, but delving into more Murnau films gives me a much better perspective.
David's use of the phrases "aristotelian" and "a bunch of shit" in the same couple of sentences actually demonstrates what I love about this podcast--it's that blend of intelligence and humor that I've been a fan of ever since I was a kid obsessed with Calvin and Hobbes. I love it.
