The movie had gone down slightly in my estimation, until a few weeks ago when I revisted it on Blu-ray, and had an absolute blast. Sure it lacks subtelty and some of the performances are layed on a bit thick, but I still found it to be a thoroughly entertaining sword and sandles epic. The fight scenes were particularly invigorating. But last episode the movie seemed to slightly dismissed by David, Tyler and their guest. What is your opinion on the film? And does anyone know that BP's objections to it was? I can't recall them discussing it in the past. Thanks!

I haven't seen 'Gladiator' since it first came out, but I liked it at the time. I thought it was a fun romp, basically. Much of the antipathy towards 'Gladiator', I think, stems from it winning Best Picture for 2000 when there were so many other films that probably deserved it more. Other than that, I'm stumped.

"Are you not entertained!?"
I enjoyed it quite a bit back in the day, but because it was one of the early DVDs that I bought, I wore that thing out. My personal view is that I watched it too much. I don't think it's best picture worthy, but it's a pretty cool movie.

I honestly didn't care for the movie at the time. I've watched it a couple times over the years. When it came out on blu-ray I checked it out of our library and couldn't get more than 10 minutes in. Though it makes sense that a movie I didn't care for in the first place hasn't aged well for me.
