HOLY HELL! In one minute, I think this show has just dethroned Breaking Bad as my most anticipated series of 2012. To be fair, I'm a fan of the books as well, but the show-runners have just gone above and beyond. This seriously looks and feels better than most films.
Are there any other fans of the series, or show here? Anyone who didn't like season 1? I felt the first half of S1 was a little slow, but the second half was really great. I can't wait till April! ;D

I really disliked season 1, I watched the first 8 episodes and gave up. Besides all the nit-picky things, I mainly disliked the episode structures, which just meandered around and gave us short updates on every single character, rather than presenting a self-contained episode. More broadly, in a film, this entire first season would take up about 10 minutes and form the opening exposition before the main drama begins. Having to see it stretched out like this is... a bit dull (for me).
I also have little patience for Fantasy though, so fair warning.

You stopped after 8 episodes? So you never saw the shocking event that happens at the end of episode 9? People went crazy after that. Did you watch the trailer at least? What did you think? I don't really see the show as a fantasy, the way Lord of the Rings is. Sure there are supernatural elements, but they are very much on the sidelines of the story. The main narrative is about the medieval politics and dynastic struggles of the realm. I would recommend you give the show another go, or at least watch the final two episodes. I have a feeling they'll change you're mind about the quality of the show. ;D

Ok, Mladen, we get it. You don't like the show. Either you're a simple contrarian or too impatient for the style, but could we just have a thread about the show where you aren't complaining about it? As a fan of the novels I have two things to say; first is I can't wait for season two! And second, I have no idea how they are going to do seasons four and five. They are such a departure from the first couple of books and the character roster changes so much... Anyone else read the novels?

Shrugs. Duncan asked if anyone didn't like season 1. Has there been another GOT thread? It seems like many fans had the same specific problems with the show that I did. duncan - I enjoyed both this trailer, and the trailer for season 1 a lot. The show always looks great visually, and the dialogue is usually really good. If the pace picks up a bit, I think I could enjoy this show more, and it seems from the episodes I missed (and what people expect of this season), it might be worth giving season 2 a shot. Question: is there a payoff to the cannibal primitive guys we saw in the opening scene of the first episode? I thought it was kind of weird to introduce that and then never really mention it again for the entire 1st season (or at least the first 8 eps?)
