I'm going to start up a new forum series here, in which I will ask you guys whom you would ideally cast in a specific movie. We'll kick it off with this.
If somebody were to remake Jaws today, whom would you place in these key roles:
1. Director
2. Writer
3. Martin Brody
4. Matt Hooper
5. Quint
6. Ellen Brody
7. Mayor Vaughn
I'm really fascinated to see what some people's answers will be.

1. Director - Rian Johnson First of all - wow. Secondly, I don't feel like JAWS should be remade as another movie about sharks, but as a movie about space sharks. As such, the cast and crew would look something like this: Director: Guillermo del Toro Writer: David Webb Peoples (yep, I went there) Martin Brody: Jackie Earle Haley Matt Hooper: Zach Galifianakis Quint: Samuel L. Jackson Ellen Brody: Naomi Watts Space station-mayor Vaughn: Bill Murray I just blew all of yourses minds. |

Well, Samuel L. Jackson should be Quint either way, and if the project runs out of funds they can always reuse the scene from Deep Blue Sea when he gets eaten.  |

Jaws - The Remake
I think I'm skewing older than some people here.
Director/Writer - The Coens (Tarantino would also be fine, as someone suggested, if he can keep the pace fine. I liked the slow pacing of Inglorious Bastards, but it killed Death Proof)
Martin Brody - Josh Brolin
Quint - Daniel Day-Lewis (I concur with the last guy)
Matt Hooper - I think this needs to be a young comedian in the LA comedy scene. Sam Levine maybe? (it would be a great contrast to the older, tough as nails Quint).
Ellen - Frances McDormand (Sorry, I suck when it comes to female actresses, but I think this is the best of the top of my head choice)
Mayor Vaughan - Either Steve Carrell or Rob Riggle. Someone who can seem at one point "used car salesman from the 80's" but later on show more depth than the surface smarm suggests.
