aaaand it was great. Far more surprising than I expected. I know, isn't it fantastict? The Apartment really is one of a kind. I'm wishing The Illusionist would get a wider release especially given its nomination. It's one of the few films I'm still waiting to see in theaters.

After being poisoned one man must.. fight his way past an onslaught of hot female fighters in a top secret invitational martial arts tournament. Did you enjoy it?

Just curious: of our small cabal of regulars are any of you from around New York? I only ask because I'm always talking about the repertory and independent fare in Manhattan without really knowing if anyone else has the same access.
On that note: the Film Society has an early showing Herzog's Cave of Forgotten Dreams. I was thinking about seeing it but looking at it now I see it's coming out this spring under IFC Films banner which means it'll definitely be showing at the IFC Center in the Village.
The Film Forum is doing a series on Al Pacino in the 70s which... amazing. With any luck I'll be seeing both Godfathers on the big screen though there's a whole list of movies I wish I could see.

DOA was a silly over the top thriller. It's definitely a b-movie, but at the same time, the tension really ramps up as the main character gets closer to his death. This is a movie that could get a really good remake.
